On Friday, December 13th 2013 we attended the Euromeeting 2013 at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, organized by Italian Region of Tuscany.
Euromeeting 2013 is an annual international Seminar specifically dedicated to sustainable and competitive development issues of the European Regions in the Tourism sector.
The conference was divided into three main sessions: European policies in the tourism sector, the European tourism policies in the national strategy framework from the Commission (2010) 352 to the new funding cycle 2014-2020 and the third one on European Funding opportunities for the Tourism sector ( Structural Funds, COSME, Horizon 2020)
Among the speakers, representatives from the European Commission DG enterprise and industry, DG agriculture and rural development, DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, DG Regional and Urban policy, DG Education and Culture, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion and from the European Parliament presented their programmes and their calls directed to small and medium enterprises, public authorities and tourism professionals to get European fundings and develop their projects.
Representatives from European regions shared their practices and their work on increasing tourism at the local, regional and national levels. The role of tourism was highlighted in creating jobs and generating economic development.
