In order to better assist regions and Member States in the field of service innovation, the Directorate General Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission has launched a call for proposals that will support the creation of two European Alliances: the European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance and the European Creative Industries Alliance.
Each of the Alliances will set up a policy learning platform whose role is promoting a policy dialogue on designing better industrial and innovation strategies that build upon service innovation in the areas above-mentioned. They will launch also concrete actions to mobilise more and better support for the further exploitation of service innovations in the fields of creative industries and mobile and mobility industries.
The call for proposal has two actions, namely the European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance and the European Creative Industry Alliance. Each of the two actions has four strands. In particular under strand 3 specific activities shall be launched to promote a broad deployment of innovative mobile services at European level through large scale demonstrators. A possible field of application could be sustainable tourism in rural areas, where innovative mobile solutions could be used to facilitate access to cultural heritage sites, for better informing tourists about leisure activities in a region and/or to offering better solutions for travelling in rural areas.
Under this call for proposal, a maximum of 2 projects will be selected. The maximum EU co-financing rate of eligible costs is 75% and the maximum EU co-financing ceiling per project is 500.000 €. The deadline for submission of proposals for all the strands of the two actions is 24 June 2011.
Although the deadline is short, this call for proposal could be inspiring for public authorities which deal with tourism and innovation:
