Eco-innovation call for proposals 2012: when business meets the environment

This slogan reflects the target of the new call launched by the European Commission in the framework of the Eco-Innovation Programme, offering to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) the opportunity to adequate their production chain to sustainable practices, therefore “bridging the gap between research and the market”.

The overall tangible objective is supporting projects concerned with the first application or market replication of eco-innovative techniques, products, processes or practices, which have already been technically demonstrated, but due to remaining risks need incentives to penetrate significantly the market.

Specific priorities have been set up considering their important environmental impact and policy priorities of the European Union: Materials Recycling; Sustainable Building Products; Food and Drink Sector; Water; Greening businesses.

This call is open to all legal persons that are based in eligible countries but the priority will be given to Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Clusters of applicants and projects which demonstrate a European added value and have a high potential for market replication are strongly encouraged. Eligible countries are: EU 27 Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Albania, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Israel, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, and other non-EU countries provided they have the appropriate agreement in force

The total EU contribution available for this call is € 34,830.000 Million with a financial support limited to a maximum of 50% of the costs per project. The duration of an action may not exceed 36 months.
