“Leadership and Governance in Sustainable Tourism” is the first High Level European Summer School to address one of the most important themes in the tourism industry: how to improve sustainable tourism project success and monitor the benefits of funded initiatives.
From 1st of July to 3rd of July the second edition of the PM4SD European Summer School on “Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Tourism” will take place in Seinäjoki, Finland.
The 1st high level Summer School on Project Management for Sustainable Tourism Gathering Key Donors, Policy Makers and Industry Representatives is organized by the Foundation for European Sustainable Tourism FEST and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences SeAMK.
The Summer School aims to address the professionalization of sustainable tourism project management and strategies together with key donors, policy makers, and industry representatives. It is the perfect place to share practices on how to plan and manage tourism funding with sustainability, and to improve project management and effectiveness in the tourism sector. The Summer School is also a training event leading to a qualification for trainers and senior practitioners and a marketplace to create joint funding proposals, developing concept notes and matching skill sets between professional project managers and organizations.
The Summer School is organized in partnership with Helsinki University, Ruralia Institute, University Consortium of Seinäjoki, the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia, Leeds Metropolitan University, The George Washington University, JLAG, and NECSTouR.
Tourism is the third largest industry in Europe and the EU is promoting it as a vehicle for jobs and growth creation in sync with the EU2020 strategy. Through “Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Tourism” Summer School intends to disseminate best practices and papers related to the theme “Project Management and Sustainable Tourism” as well as to promote PM4SD™, the first Sustainable Tourism Project Management certified methodology, as best management practice.
