At a time of economic stagnation and central government cuts, European funding can become a life-line for many projects. However, knowing how to attract the funding, manage the project and successfully fulfill all contractual obligations might appear a daunting task.

To help professionals in private, public or third sector tourism who would like to consider European funding but don’t know where to start, Jlag organises  a one day introduction to the work of European Institutions and the funding streams available to the tourism sector.

The workshop will take place at the Birbeck College, Bloomsbury, Central London. Forthcoming sessions will be on 14th December 2011, 22nd February 2012 and 04th April 2012.

Over an intense and highly practical one day participants will learn about:

  • Tourism in the European Union – the Lisbon Treaty and its impact
  • The working of the main institutions in relation to the Tourism sector
  • Current funding streams opportunities for 2007-2013, including: CIP (competition and innovation); Lifelong Learning; 7th Framework Programme (research); Media and Culture Programmes; Cooperation Programmes
  • How to select the right funding stream for your project: what matters, what works, what to avoid
  • How to successfully manage a European project: best practice, challenges and pitfalls
  • A showcase of Best Practices

The workshop is run by highly experienced tourism professionals with over a decade of successfully working with European institutions and accessing European funding. The day is highly interactive and there will be plenty of time to answer all your questions.
