Birmingham 6th and 7th June
Over the last two years the Tourism Symposium has established itself as the foremost UK-based cross-sectoral event for tourism professionals and also those involved in related sectors. This year’s theme of ‘The Business of Tourism: What are the new drivers for tourism today?’ will be explored by a fantastic line-up of senior speakers from different sectors including culture, transport, national tourism agencies, consultancy, charities and corporates through presentations, panel discussions and interviews. Looking at amongst other things business tourism, festivals, the influence of film and television on visitor distribution, and international angles from Namibia and Saudi Arabia, the speakers will discuss how visitors decide on their choices for holiday, business and leisure travel, and how these can be influenced.
During the day we will also hear four views on ‘missed opportunities’: are tourism businesses making the most of cultural, wellbeing, learning and volunteering opportunities? and the overall context for the day will be set with a presentation on future insights into how customers make their destination choices.
Plus – time to explore Birmingham’s culture and heritage, old and new, on three walking tours. This will be a great opportunity to discover the ‘new look’ Birmingham, the UK’s Second City. 37 million visitors in 2014 can’t be wrong – if you haven’t been for a while come and take another look.
If you are not a member of the Tourism Society Europa, this is the opportunity to join and you will get the special fee for the Symposium.
