Week lift // 7 – 11 March


This week from the European Parliament lift we want to draw your attention to this events:
  • from the 4th March to the 5th March at Mannheim, Germany, the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) will organise a kick-off conference of its recently launched research programme “Strengthening Efficiency and Competitiveness in the European Knowledge Economies” (SEEK).
  • 5th March from 13:00 to 15:00 the ALDE Group will organize at the European Parliament: “Blue Peace Seminar: Water Policy as a Vehicle for Peace in the Middle East”. The Blue Peace: Rethinking Middle East Water, a new report by the Strategic Foresight Group, redefines water as an opportunity for socio-economic development  rather than a source of potential conflict in the Middle East, and demonstrates how concrete policy measures can achieve this objective. Contact Person – Roshani Palamakumbura, roshani.palamakumbura@europarl.europa.eu
  • From the 10th to the 11th March, the EU’s statistical office Eurostat is organising a conference at Charlemagne Building in Brussels on “Statistics for Policymaking: Europe 2020”.
  • 15th March from 10:00 to 12:30, the ALDE Group organizes at the European Parliament the seminar: “Hydrogen and Energy Infrastructures”. The focus will be on Hydrogen, which is often not mentioned as an electro-mobility solution even if it has numerous advantages. Contact: elke.pingel@europarl.europa.eu
  • 16th March from 18.00 to 20.00 the European Conservatives and Reformists Group organizes at the European Parliament of Brussels the “European Forum for Manufacturing”.
  • 24th March the S&D group will organize the conference “2011 Transatlantic Conference on Minority political leadership, US and EU parliamentarians and experts engaging for a joint strategy on racial and ethnic equality and inclusion” from 14.00 to 18.30 at the European Parliament, Brussels.
